Fitness: How to Keep the Summer “Bikini Bod” for Your Wedding
So you may have worked out all spring and summer in order to maintain your bikini body throughout the season and you are already at your goal wedding weight for upcoming autumn and winter nuptials! Beware, with the cooler weather approaching us and the holiday season closing in, you may experience a few hiccups here and there within your workout routine!
Lauren Conrad is to the rescue with her bikini workout tips that you can use right up until your wedding, so you can count on looking your best for those wedding photos! For more of her tips, check out her “Get Fit” blog. I can promise, you won’t be sorry!
1. Praise yourself
You want to constantly remind yourself of where you started, and where you are now! It’s important to stay motivated until your big day! One way to remind yourself could be before and after photos. It is gratifying to see where you first started, and where you are today with your toning and weight loss! Also, keep your “before” photo close to you, or in your bathroom while getting ready for the day. This will remind you of all of the hard work that you have put in for these last few months!
2. Exercise Regularly
It might be difficult, but keep on track with your exercise schedule. Possibly wake up a little bit earlier in the mornings and join a spin or yoga class at your local gym, especially if you are busy after work hours during the autumn and winter. If you start to miss a few days a week, make it a priority to get back on track! Yet again, joining classes may help you make sure to stay on track. You will feel more obligation to make the class once you get to know your instructor and possibly make a few friends within the class! To spend more time with your fiance during the busy week, try to make 2-3 workout dates together!
3. Eat Breakfast
We have all heard this before, but skipping breakfast WILL lead to weight gain! Make sure to make a protein and whole grain rich breakfast in the morning in order to stay full longer throughout the day. Boiling hard boiled eggs at night and refrigerating until morning will make a quick eat and go breakfast during those busy hours getting ready for work and sending the children off to school. Also, packing a Greek yogurt in the morning with berries could be a delicious way to start your day.
4. Go Shopping!
Okay, so maybe your fiance might think you spend enough on clothes and shoes…but this will actually help your weight goals! It’s time to throw away those old clothes that are two sizes too large for you, and time to bring in some new and exciting wardrobe changes into your closet! Maybe buying a pair a pants one week, and a nice top the next week will be able to slowly help rebuild your closet over time. If you keep those larger clothes, you will feel comfortable in changing back into them a few months from now. Make sure you keep those skinny jeans that you felt fabulous in during the summer, and keep feeling fabulous in them all year round!
5. Find your “Weight Gain Triggers”
Are you someone who craves junk food during the weekends? Football Sunday diet with pizza and beer? Find a healthy alternative to cook during the weekend, and make sure it is something that you’re excited about making! This might also help your fiance within the next few months as well, and he can thank you for helping him fit in a slimmer suit! Need a jolt in your blood sugar during the day? Go for more walks outside on those nice days of autumn, and take in the weather before it is too late! Maybe walk to the coffee shop next door for a quick break, or walk to the post office down the street instead of the mailman picking up your mail in the morning!
6. Reward
Like I mentioned in the first tip, praise and reward yourself. Set a goal (realistic one), and once that goal is achieved, have a reward already set up and ready to go! Maybe it is a date night at your favorite restaurant, where you can eat your favorite dessert that you have been craving, buying a brand new bikini for your honeymoon, a new handbag to match your new wardrobe, or booking that dream honeymoon for you and your fiance! This is time to do whatever you want, within reason, to reward all of your hard work!
