Why Engagement Photos are a Must Do
I love looking at photographer’s blogs for engagement shoots, they are so much fun and always different from each other! Something fun in the planning process that couples should do are engagement photos! Here are some great reasons why:
1. Get to know your photographer- it is very important that couples like their photographer on their wedding day because they will be with them the entire day. If your photographer annoys you or you don’t mesh well with your personalities, you are not going to be happy on your wedding day. Doing an engagement shoot gives couples the chance to be a little more playful and get to know their photographer in a more informal setting before the big day. In exchange to getting to know your photographer, it’s also nice for the photographer to get to know the couple so they know what they like, what they don’t like, and how to best pose them/shoot them and make the most of their time the day of their wedding.
2. Have Great Pictures of the two of you! Chances are, all the pictures you’ve taken of the two of you up to your wedding are from someone close to you’s point and shoot or the turn around feature of your iPhone. And while you may be a pro at instagram, you’re not a professional photographer. Engagement photos offer you the chance to get some amazing images of the two of you both in casual clothing and dressed up to use through your house and for your wedding as well! Think guestbook, or just to display.
3. Get used to being in front of a camera. Wedding day is always a time crunch! You want to make sure that the limited time that you have with your photographer is used wisely! That being said, engagement photos are a great time to get the awkward feeling you may have in front of a camera out of the way so you are completely comfortable and get the best photos on your wedding day. You may not be the most affectionate of people and having your photographer tell you to kiss 8,000 times over could get old fast, but you want to make sure you convey your love through every single image!
4. Have fun! Engagement photos are a great way to have some fun, check out the images below from some of the photographers we work with often to see just what types of crazy, fun, and interesting things and poses that you can do! (Photo Credit: Rob Spring Photography and Jeff Foley Photography)
I absolutely agree, not only it gives the couples to bond with their photographer it also gives photographers an insight on how to pose their clients based on their personality. I love doing engagement shoots it gives me time to play with the couple and it also gives us the chance to get comfortable with each other.
