Making The Best of a Bad Situtation

Rumor has it there are some distressed brides and grooms in our area who are left in a lurch and looking for their reception venue last minute.  Let us help you out, we have some great deals available on a variety of open dates for this year at our newest property, Key Hall at Proctors.  For more information call us at (518) 374-7262.

Lately there has been a lot of press regarding wedding professionals closing their doors and  the sticky situation it puts the brides and grooms in.  We have compiled some suggestions to help you out should you (and we certainly hope you don’t) find yourself in this position.

  • Be Proactive: Don’t wait for your vendor to call you, if you hear of something that has happened, call them right away.  Your quick response may give you a better chance of getting back your deposit as well as re-booking that vendor.
  • Ask Your Other Vendors: Don’t forget that you have hired other people and that they can help you.  The wedding industry is a tight knit community, your other vendors can reach out on your behalf to get what may be a quicker response for you.
  • Don’t Be Afraid to Negotiate: A lot of vendors will give you a discount if they are still available close to a date (usually around 6 months).  Ask potential new vendors what they can do for you.

Lastly, remember that a wedding is a large financial commitment much like buying a house.  You wouldn’t buy a house without homeowner’s insurance!  If you so choose, you can purchase wedding insurance.  While, hopefully, there are very few cases where brides and grooms would need wedding insurance, it is affordable and offers peace of mind.  Look into it here if this could be important to you.

Experiencing this right now? We are profoundly sorry, if it’s a venue that you are seeking or a caterer, please call us and let’s see if we can help you!
