Hot Trend: Wedding Cakes

Have you given much thought about your wedding cake design?  For some couples, the wedding cake has become less of an important part of the wedding reception, but look for a comeback in 2014!  New and exciting trends from fashion this year are coming into the wedding cake buzz for the upcoming year!

Look for these new trends regarding wedding cakes in 2014!

Ombre 

Ombre became such a popular trend in 2013, it would only take some time for it to transfer its popularity into the wedding industry!  This trend is popular with multi-tiered cakes, with each level becoming slightly lighter or darker than the tier before.  But, you don’t need to stop at just the frosting,  even the flavors and fillings of the cake can take on this trend!

Texture

This is where couples can have fun designing the outside of their cake!  Texture can match the theme of the wedding, for example an outdoor wedding reception could have the outside of their cake to resemble a tree, or perhaps have the same texture as your flowers used during your reception!  This trend is open to any idea, which makes it fun and creative!

Glitter

Planning a wedding full of glitz and glam?  Add sparkle to your wedding cake to enhance the your theme!

Seasonal

Today, weddings are becoming popular during all seasons!    Why not make your cake to match the season that you will be celebrating your big day in?

Decorate with fresh flowers during the Spring months! Cherry Blossoms are a cheerful reminder that Spring is upon us!

A patriotic wedding cake would be a perfect fit around Independence Day!  A lemon flavored sponge cake or filling would be a nice touch,  but also the berries would be harvested fresh at this time of year, making for a delicious treat!
