Traditions: The Bachelorette Party
The Bachelorette Party has it’s origins in the 1960’s. During the height of the Sexual Revolution and the Feminist movement, when Gender Equality was a big issue, the bachelorette party ensued from the popular bachelor party. Also known as a “hen party” or a “stagette”, these parties really gained their popularity in the late 1980s and mid 1990s. Not as outlandish as their male counterparts, bachelorette parties focus mainly on entertainment and interactive games.
Looking for some fun ideas for bachelorette parties? We here at Aisle Files found some great ones!
- “Pamper Yourself”- Personally, I love this just because I love an excuse to go to the spa! Gather all your girls and book a day at a full service spa. Think Plush White Terry Robes and Mimosas. Treat yourself to mud warps, facials, massages, manicures, whatever you fancy. You might find some new looks for the wedding day!
- “Tea Time”- Have a grown up tea party complete with fancy china, finger sandwiches, lace doilies, petit fours (yum!) and scones. This is nice because you can do it at anyone’s house or go to a fancy hotel tea room!
- “Written in the Stars (or Cards)”- Hire a Tarot Card reader and an astrologist to read everyone’s cards and do their charts. What a fun way to know your future and spend some time with your girls!
- “Scavenger Hunt”- This is an awesome idea! Divide into teams and follow your treasure map and clues. Find prizes like champagne along the way. Have prizes for the winning team!
